Zambesia Conservation Alliance to host Conservation Games Awards event in Victoria Falls
On the 27th November 2021, Zambesia Conservation Alliance will host the Conservation Games Awards event for the winners of the various categories of the first ever Conservation Games held online in 2020.
The Conservation Games, a set of quiz matches played via ZOOM, was held over a series of recorded matches and then released on a YOUTUBE channel Conservation Games Youtube – The games saw over seventy sports stars, men and women, from around Southern Africa take part in this innovative set of online quiz games, in an effort to link the power of sport to the very real plight of conservation, create awareness and raise funding to support essential conservation organisations on the ground. Each “match up” saw two players go head to head on line, moderated by a Match Master the players were asked questions about their own career and that of their opponent. Each game ended in the players performing the “Whacky Wild” an interpretation of an African wild animal.
The players had been divided into four teams and the points gained in each match contributed to a team members overall team total. The four teams were the Lions, the Elephants, The Leopards and The Buffalo. In these first games the Elephant Team was victorious and John Rennie (International Zimbabwe Cricket Legend) will be travelling to Victoria Falls to receive the “Pangolin trophy”
The Patrick Mavros made Pangolin Trophy has been hand made for the Conservation Games.
The event on the 27th November will be held at the Victoria Falls Hotel, one of the Leading Hotels of the World, and the evening will be hosted in the Livingstone Room. Those attending will enjoy a world class meal, and entertainment from on of Zimbabwe's rising musical stars Gemma Griffiths.
