Victoria Falls Enduro 2021 an outstanding success
The 2021 Auto World Victoria Falls Enduro held in Victoria Falls last weekend and hosted by the Zambezi Off Road Club at Lookout Cafe and Gorges Lodge, proved to be an outstanding success despite the impact of COVID-19 on the destination. As the 9th event of its kind, the Victoria Falls Enduro boasted an entry of 102 riders (the highest number of entries since it's inception).
The organisers hosted top Dakar riders Graeme Sharp (Zimbabwe) and Ross Branch (Botswana), and on the opening evening of the event launch, Graeme Sharp was joined by Cameron and Ash Thixton as they announced the Zimbabwe Team that will be participating in the Dakar Rally 2023, "A first for Zimbabwe to have this kind of representation at this level", said Graeme Sharp.
The Victoria Falls Enduro was originally created as a fun off-road enduro - trail ride for motorbikes and quads in the areas surrounding the beautiful Victoria Falls. It has grown substantially over the years and had become increasingly popular with regional and international entries pre the covid pandemic. Always looking for ways to improve and add to the event, this year also included a brilliant 35km mountain bike cycle track, with a fantastic 33 entries.
The event is yet another example of this incredible community, where professional motorsport has been combined with with fun and comradeship in support of a good cause. All funds raised by this amazing event are donated to worthy causes including the Victoria Falls Anti-Poaching Unit (VFAPU), Veterinarians For Animal Welfare Zimbabwe (VAWZ), Bhejane Trust and The Victoria Falls Wildlife Trust (VFWT) - all dedicated organisations focused on the conservation and well being of wildlife and the biodiversity in and around the region.
The Victoria Falls Enduro dates for 2022 have now been set and will take place between 30th April and 1st May 2022.
