ACE Air & Ambulance (Pvt) Ltd is an internationally accredited air ambulance operator, with multiple bases throughout Zimbabwe, that specialises in emergency evacuation, remote rescue and recovery throughout Southern Africa and beyond.

Every Year the team at ACE Air & Ambulance Zimbabwe undergo an extensive week of training and team building challenges, each year in a different remote location within the country. This year’s training took place on the 5th November in the remote area Simwenge part of the Hwange District in Northern Matabeleland, and saw the teams undergo challenges in extreme heat, rugged terrain and harsh conditions typical of what may be expected in the event of a remote rescue operation.

The purpose of the annual training is to uphold exceptional world class standards of medical care in untamed landscapes, whilst building team work and ensuring new recruits learn from the highly experienced existing medics on the team.

The recent training which took place last week, saw the teams having to carry out two set-up search and rescue operations:
A recovery of “rangers” injured in a shooting incident with poachers

A recovery of passengers injured in an aircraft accident
“This year’s training challenge was exceptionally difficult for the teams who had to operate in 43 degree heat, whilst navigating river crossings and some of the country’s roughest terrain, as well as conducting a recovery from a burning wreckage. It is through this training that we uphold the high standards which we at ACE Air & Ambulance ascribe to, ensuring we are prepared for when an actual incident takes place.” says Britto Maseko, one of the Senior Instructors at the highly reputable organisation. “Previous years have seen us conducting training in Matusadona and Kariba, and next year we plan to conduct our Annual Challenge in the Eastern Highlands region. This allows our teams to have excellent knowledge of the different landscapes across the country and how to navigate diverse yet diverse terrain”.

ACE Air & Ambulance have bases throughout the country including Victoria Falls to ensure quick responses whether by road or by air, allowing visitors travelling to Zimbabwe to have confidence that in the event of any incident, they will be professionally attended to by this world class team. The extensive ACE fleet consists of carefully selected and geared Beechcraft King Airs, helicopters and road ambulances. ACE is strategically positioned in the centre of sub-Saharan Africa, with direct access to Southern Africa’s most remote tourism and safari destinations.

Ace Air provide a remote rescue package with immediate activation for travellers entering Zimbabwe ensuring you are immediately covered in the event of any requirement for medical rescue or evacuation services.
