Women and Youth Empowerment Centre development making strides

Working in-line with the UNDP Sustainable Development Goals of 2030 where achieving inclusive and quality education for all as one of the most powerful and proven vehicles for sustainable development, the Jafuta Foundation have prioritised the development of a Women and Youth Empowerment Centre to focus on vocational training and designed to aid women, men, youth and children to strengthen their economic independence and will focus on six thematic areas which will be the key pillars of vocational training: health, tourism, self-help programs, food value edition, an ICT centre and entrepreneurship.

The Jafuta Foundation has made extensive strides in the development of the Women and Youth Empowerment Centre over the last few weeks. The Centre which comprises of two sections includes the Kathy Cole's Women’s Creative Art Centre and the Youth Vocational Skills Centre at Dibutibu, Chisuma Village in Victoria Falls, both of which will provide disadvantaged women and youth with freely accessible skills training that can change their life trajectory. The vocational training to be conducted at the centre will ensure that communities are equipped with real skills, alongside theoretical knowledge.

The 17 Sustainable Development Goals are all integrated so that action in one area will ultimately affect outcomes in others, so that development must balance social, economic and environmental sustainability. Jafuta Foundation have extended their thanks to the Oak Foundation and Kathy Cole for helping set up this much needed facility to make real changes to the lives of those living on the outskirts of Victoria Falls.
