Africa's Eden In-Destination Travel Show begins in Victoria Falls today
The inaugural Africa's Eden In-Destination Travel Show began in Victoria Falls today to showcase the expansive and unparalleled biodiversity and world-class wilderness, wildlife and outdoor adventure offering of the region incorporating Botswana, Namibia, Zimbabwe and Zambia.
As a membership association focused on collaborative efforts to promote the region, Africa's Eden together with 75 exhibitors from within the four countries, are hosting approximately 70 regional and international buyers at one of the first in-destination and in-person travel shows to be held since the onset of the pandemic. An exciting development to advance the ongoing recovery efforts of the region.
The Travel Show kicked off today with the 'Kgotla Connect / Congress', an unconference style gathering to collectively discuss pertinent issues impacting the tourism sector, and brainstorm on future collaborative efforts to assist recovery for the region, and the direction of the association over the course of the next year. "The key objective of Africa's Eden is to drive forward collaboration to showcase all that this spectacular region has to offer. Africa's Eden has worked hard to become the glue that has kept the industry connected during the past two years of adversity and we have big plans for the future," said Jillian Blackbeard, CEO Of Africa's Eden.
Speaking at the "Travellers Club" session, Kumbi Chiweshe of The Victoria Falls DMC highlighted how important Africa's Eden, and the resultant collaboration, has been in changing the narrative of tourism to the region for the future. "I like to think of Livingstone and Victoria Falls not as two separate destinations divided by a river... but rather as one destination connected by a magnificent and historical bridge," said Kumbi.
The travel show has included pre and post tours for the buyers visiting the region, allowing them a fully immersive experience to understand the key aspects of what makes the region so attractive for future travellers.
The location of the inaugural Africa's Eden Show at Victoria Falls has been effective in showcasing the destination as the gateway and hub of access to the wider region. Additional In-Destination Shows will be held in Kasane in November 2022, Livingstone in February 2023, and Swakopmund in November 2023
