It hasn’t only been the Task Force and Medical Teams who have been hard at work during the lockdown. Just as important to the long term well being and recovery of tourism to the region, is one of the major attractants to visitors, ensuring that the wildlife and landscapes are protected.
The Zimbabwe National Parks and Wildlife Management Authority together with Victoria Falls Anti Poaching Unit, and Zambezi Horse Safaris, have been out on daily patrols throughout the lockdown period to ensure poaching is kept at bay and that wildlife and the habitats that surround Victoria Falls are kept safe.
Together, these vital public and private stakeholders have done a remarkable job and covered huge distances in the process. In addition, Victoria Falls Wildlife Trust have been an integral part of the collaborative conservation efforts, assisting with snare removals, and rescue and rehabilitation efforts throughout this time.
